Success Story
A WRDA Authorization for Water Supply
From a regional priority to federal authorization and funding, ENS Resources built the strategy and delivered the result.
Federal Funding
$5.3M
WRDA appropriation
Regional city-county water system
The Challenge
The Problem
A regional city-county water system depended on a single storage facility to meet demand, leaving the area exposed during droughts and dry-year conditions. Without an additional water source, the region had no reliable backup when supply ran low.
Our Approach
What ENS Did
- ✓ Engaged the congressional delegation and House and Senate Appropriations Committee staff, positioning the project as a regional priority to build bipartisan support
- ✓ Developed and delivered a strategy to secure federal funding for the wastewater infrastructure required to support redevelopment
- ✓ Working closely with our client to build community and congressional support to obtain a WRDA authorization and $5.3 million in federal appropriations.
- ✓ Developed a strategy with the client to work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the Project Partnership Agreement
- ✓ Guided the client through the federal process from initial concept to an authorized, funded project
The Outcome
The Result
Our client successfully obtained a WRDA authorization and $5.3 million in federal appropriations, supporting construction of an alternative water source upstream of the region's storage facility and ensuring a steady, reliable supply during droughts.
