Federal Funding for Local Transportation Priorities

From transit centers to rural highway safety, ENS identified federal funding opportunities to meet priority transportation projects that keep local communities moving.

The Challenge

The Problem

Local governments face growing transportation needs — aging transit fleets, congested highways, and unsafe rural roads — but limited staff capacity and Washington relationships put federal funding out of reach for many communities.

Our Approach

What ENS Did

  • Identified an unique opportunity for client to obtain funding for a regional transit facility and solar farm, pairing a bus transfer center with an on-site solar energy system
  • Obtained bipartisan congressional support to fund transit bus replacement, rehabilitation, and purchase for a rural transit authority, preserving access for remote communities
  • Worked with client to successfully navigate the congressionally directed funding process to obtain funding for planning and environmental studies to improve safety and design a highway widening or bypass for a rural community
The Outcome

The Result

Results reached across the full range of transportation priorities — safer and more reliable transit, preserved mobility for rural communities, and safer roads — putting rural and small-town transportation systems on equal footing with the nation's largest transit agencies.
