Success Story

Federal Funding for Community Health, Safety, and Education

From housing and shelter to public safety and education, ENS has successfully crafted strategies to obtain federal assistance for the priorities that matter most to local communities.

The Challenge

The Problem

Local governments face growing needs across housing, public safety, and education, but limited staff capacity and Washington relationships put federal funding out of reach for many communities.

Our Approach

What ENS Did

  • ENS represented clients at every stage of the federal appropriations process to a successfully obtain congressionally directed funding for diverse local priorities, including:
  • Non-congregate interim shelter for individuals and families experiencing unsheltered homelessness, paired with case management and housing navigation
  • Multigenerational hubs blending senior housing, early childhood education, and community space
  • Public safety communications upgrades letting police, fire, and mutual-aid responders share data across municipal boundaries
  • Dual-enrollment college preparation initiative letting students earn college credit in fire technology and EMT while in high school
The Outcome

The Result

Results reached across the full range of community priorities — shelter and housing for vulnerable residents, multigenerational spaces, upgraded emergency communications, and career-focused educational opportunities — with ENS managing each request from concept through congressional enactment.
